Nail Art Brushes!

Hello friends!

This is the post regarding nail art brushes. In India getting good quality nail art brushes for affordable price is very difficult as nail art has recently entered Indian market. I had purchased nail art brushes from ebay and liked them alot. So thought of sharing my experience with you guys so that it would help you to pick the right brush.

Before I show you my buy from ebay lemme give you a brief introduction about the types of brushes used for nail art.

Liner Brush: Less Bristles and usually pointed so that it’s easier to draw perfect short lines. Excellent for drawing outlines. You can also use it for creating animal print.

Shader/Flat Brush: Short bristles with square or blunt end. It is useful in detailing like shading. Especially useful in one stroke nail art where you need to load brush with two colors.

Marbler/ Dotter Brush: Instead of bristles it will have narrow tip of different size. Useful in putting different sized dots.

Fan Brush: Medium length, flat, fan shaped bristles. It helps in shading and creating swirls. You can load it with multiple colors to create gradient effect. Can be used to sprinkle glitters and clean the excess flocking powder. Gives airbrush effect.

Angular Brush: Short, flat, angled bristles cut at forty-five degree angle. Perfect brush for creating slants and angled shapes.

Crooked Detailer Brush: Angled brush with short length – uneven bristles. Easy to draw fine details and outlines. Can be used to add highlights.

Striper Brush: Pointed tip with very long but less bristles. Suitable for long vertical or horizontal lines. Depending on the bristle thickness and amount of paint on brush, line thickness can vary.

Detailer Brush: Short, flat bristles which graduate to a tip at the end. Can be used to draw flower petals.

Grass Comb Brush: Short, flat, separated bristles with uneven lengths. Helpful in drawing grass, feathers etc. Gives airbrush effect.

These are main categories of nail art brushes. Depending on the size and thickness, there are more varieties too. Here is a photo which shows the 15 different types of nail art brushes and designs created with them.

Republic Day 2016 Nail Art!

Hello friends!

The country is all set to celebrate its 67th Republic Day on Tuesday 26th January with ceremonial parade in ‘Rajpath’. One of the biggest highlights this year is that the President of France Francois Hollande will be attending the event as a chief guest. It will also be one of the most unique parades in recent times. Here are some of the things to look out for:

Foreign army to participate in event for the first time

For the first time since 1950, a foreign army contingent will march down the Rajpath during the Republic Day parade.

Army dogs to march after 26 years

One of the major attractions this year which has already grabbed a lot of attention and raised the enthusiasm of people is that Indian Army dogs will march down the Rajpath on Tuesday after 26 long years.
Reportedly, the Army has selected 36 dogs out of total 1,200 Labradors and German Shepherds for the event. These canines are trained in jobs like detection of explosives, guarding, assaulting, etc, and play a vital role in saving lives of the soldiers at various occasions.

Shorter and crispier this time

Reportedly, the celebration this year will be 25 minute shorter than usual. The duration has been brought down to 90 minutes from 115 minutes, but the format will remain the same.

First time an All-women stunt contingent

The army jawans performing stunts on bikes are a major attraction during the parade and this year for the first time, an all-women stunt contingent will also be performing during the event. Reportedly, the contingent named ‘Women Daredevils CRPF’ comprising of 120 soldiers will showcase their skill this year.

Preventing Air Bubbles In Nail Polish

Hello friends!

I was doing a floral mani for a competition and it came out well too. While I was clicking some photographs of my art I happened to see some air bubbles over it and was taken a back. (You may see them on image below).

Floral Mani With Air Bubbles

Floral Mani With Air Bubbles

These bubbles happened to spoil my precious time and my hard work. This upset me as I could not figure out what was wrong and how it had to be corrected. It felt like my love my polish betrayed me. With pieces of my broken heart I convinced myself to start a new design again. But guess what the bubbles happened to appear again. 😦 This time I decided not to get hurt and instead I started thinking what might have gone wrong. This can’t happen only with me so there has to be some information available about it. So I started googling to gather some information about it.

In today’s post Creative Nails will be discussing about the reason behind those bubbles and how to prevent them.

Bubbles are normally formed during drying process. And sadly, most of the time it is difficult to know about their appearance until the polish has completely dried. If you are thinking that you can escape from this problem by purchasing expensive branded polishes, believe me you are wrong!

Bubbles can occur because of oil or moisture in the polish, or even because of ambient moisture in the air. Even too old, thick or poor quality polishes can cause air bubbles. There is one more reason behind these bubble monsters. Many of us shake the polish bottle before use and this could introduce air bubbles easily. Don’t worry Creative Nails will give you the possible solutions for it.

Preventive measures:

  1. Don’t shake the polish bottle:If you have to mix the polish, roll it between your     hands instead of shaking.
  2. Apply thin coats: Polish has got solvents in it which needs to be evaporated for it to dry completely. But if you apply thick coat before the bottom coat is dry it can cause air bubbles.
  3. Avoid thick polish:Thick polishes will take longer time to rise bubbles on the surface. If the polish is thinner bubble will rise immediately and you get time to change the polish for the party!
  4. Stay away from fans: Exposing your polish to fan or open window will dry the top portion quickly leaving the bottom layer of the polish wet. Which might invite the bubble monsters.
  5. Keep the polish bottle closed: While applying polish on your nails keep the bottle closed. You can use a piece of paper for this purpose.

These are few tricks which I found useful. Hope they will help you too. Enjoy nail arts with Creative Nails! 🙂

Udupi Paryaya Nail Art!

Hello friends!

Creative Nails is dedicating this post to Udupi Paryaya.

Udupi Paryaya

Udupi Paryaya

Paryaya is a religious ritual which takes place every alternate year in Krishna Matha (Krishna Temple) of Udupi, Karnataka, India. The puja and administration of Krishna Matha is distributed among the Swamijis (seer or monk or pontiff) of Ashta Matha’s established by Dvaita philosopher Sri Madhvacharya. Each swamiji of every matha gets chance to perform puja to Udupi Sri Krishna by rotation for a period of two years.

During paryaya, the puja and administration of Krishna Matha is handed over from Swamiji of one of Ashta Matha to the Swamiji of another Ashta Matha. It takes place every two years in even numbered years. On 18 January 2014, the puja and administration was handed over to Kaniyoor Mutt’s Vidhyavallabhatirtha Swamiji from Sodhe Mutt’s Vishwavallabhatirtha Swamiji.

Udupi Paryaya

History will be made in Udupi when Vishwesha Tirtha Swami of Pejawar Math ascends the Paryaya Peetha for the fifth time on January 18, 2016. No seer of the Ashta Maths of Udupi has ascended the Paryaya Peetha, also known as Sarvajna Peetha, more than four times since the biennial Paryaya system began in 1522.

The Paryaya denotes the change of authority to manage the Sri Krishna Math/Temple and exclusive rights to worship Lord Krishna in the over 800-year-old Sri Krishna Math/Temple from one math to another among the eight maths. The 84-year-old Vishwesha Tirtha Swami ascended the peetha in 1952, 1968, 1984 and 2000.

The paryaya takes place in the early hours of 18 January of even numbered years at Udupi. The preparations start from the previous year itself. The ascending Swamiji goes to a place called Dandathirta and takes dip at holy pond and does puja as per tradition. He enters Udupi city at around 3AM. A procession is taken from Jodukatte (Near Taluk office) of Udupi town, where ascending Swamiji and other Swamijis are carried in planquin along with cultural shows and plays. Previously, the procession started from Kinnimulki which was considered as southernmost tip of Udupi town. The Swamiji then enters Krishna Matha accompanied by outgoing Swamiji, where the reins of Krishna Matha are handed over formally. The handover ceremony is held at Sarvajna peetha inside Krishna Matha. At this ceremony the descending Swamiji hands over articles like the Akshaya Patra and the shrine keys to ascending Swamiji. A formal durbar takes place in the Rajangana. There are many rituals which are followed as it was seven hundred years ago. A public ceremony is held at Rajagana within the premises of the Krishna Matha for benefit of general public.
