Udupi Paryaya Nail Art!

Hello friends!

Creative Nails is dedicating this post to Udupi Paryaya.

Udupi Paryaya

Udupi Paryaya

Paryaya is a religious ritual which takes place every alternate year in Krishna Matha (Krishna Temple) of Udupi, Karnataka, India. The puja and administration of Krishna Matha is distributed among the Swamijis (seer or monk or pontiff) of Ashta Matha’s established by Dvaita philosopher Sri Madhvacharya. Each swamiji of every matha gets chance to perform puja to Udupi Sri Krishna by rotation for a period of two years.

During paryaya, the puja and administration of Krishna Matha is handed over from Swamiji of one of Ashta Matha to the Swamiji of another Ashta Matha. It takes place every two years in even numbered years. On 18 January 2014, the puja and administration was handed over to Kaniyoor Mutt’s Vidhyavallabhatirtha Swamiji from Sodhe Mutt’s Vishwavallabhatirtha Swamiji.

History will be made in Udupi when Vishwesha Tirtha Swami of Pejawar Math ascends the Paryaya Peetha for the fifth time on January 18, 2016. No seer of the Ashta Maths of Udupi has ascended the Paryaya Peetha, also known as Sarvajna Peetha, more than four times since the biennial Paryaya system began in 1522.

The Paryaya denotes the change of authority to manage the Sri Krishna Math/Temple and exclusive rights to worship Lord Krishna in the over 800-year-old Sri Krishna Math/Temple from one math to another among the eight maths. The 84-year-old Vishwesha Tirtha Swami ascended the peetha in 1952, 1968, 1984 and 2000.

The paryaya takes place in the early hours of 18 January of even numbered years at Udupi. The preparations start from the previous year itself. The ascending Swamiji goes to a place called Dandathirta and takes dip at holy pond and does puja as per tradition. He enters Udupi city at around 3AM. A procession is taken from Jodukatte (Near Taluk office) of Udupi town, where ascending Swamiji and other Swamijis are carried in planquin along with cultural shows and plays. Previously, the procession started from Kinnimulki which was considered as southernmost tip of Udupi town. The Swamiji then enters Krishna Matha accompanied by outgoing Swamiji, where the reins of Krishna Matha are handed over formally. The handover ceremony is held at Sarvajna peetha inside Krishna Matha. At this ceremony the descending Swamiji hands over articles like the Akshaya Patra and the shrine keys to ascending Swamiji. A formal durbar takes place in the Rajangana. There are many rituals which are followed as it was seven hundred years ago. A public ceremony is held at Rajagana within the premises of the Krishna Matha for benefit of general public.

Hello friends!

In the month of December snowflakes nail art is a must. So today, Creative Nails is gonna help you to get your snowflakes done. 🙂

Here is a step by step reference guide with photos.

Step 1: Apply the clear base coat (colorless polish) and let it dry.

Step 2: Apply one or two layers of light or dark blue color polish. Let it dry. (I have used sponge to get gradient on my nails, the tutorial for which will be posted at the earliest).

Step 3: If desired, a very thin layer of shimmer polish may be applied. Let it dry.

Step 4: Draw star shaped lines as in the photo.

Step 5: Draw “small v” shape at the edges of the lines of the star.

Step 6: In between the line draw smaller lines as shown in the pic and your snow flake is ready. 🙂

Step 7: If your nails are longer, you may draw one more smaller snowflake and can

draw a line in between the snowflakes as I have done.

Step 8: To enhance the beauty of your snowflakes you may place some rhinestones on it.

Step 9: Apply a top coat (colorless polish) and you are done. 🙂

Disney Fairy – Tinkerbell On Nails!

Hello Friends!

My neighbour’s daughter visits my house when I do some nail art on holidays. I do teach her some easy designs. I was planning to draw some fairies on my nails when she came home today. On hearing this, she was very excited and asked me to draw her favourite Disney fairy Tinkerbell! Tinkerbell is so pretty and her voice sounds like a tinkling bell!!

Nail Polish Remover Wipes

Hello friends!

Have you ever used nail polish remover wipes? If no then you should surely give a try as they are very much useful during travelling. Instead of carrying remover bottle and cotton just carry a small circular box of nail polish wiping pads inside your jeans pocket!!

Hurry up and try out your favorite flavored nail polish wipes.

Pros:

  1. Consumes less space
  2. Easy to use during travelling

Cons:

  1. For darker shades each nail requires one wiping pad

Personally I prefer these polish wipes only during travelling.

Love story of Owls on Nails!!

Hello friends!

Today’s theme is “OWLS”!

From childhood, I thought owls are ugly scary birds. It is may be because they are active during night time and make scary sounds. But recently when I saw an owl sitting on top of our coconut free, I felt they are scary beauties! I then searched for images of owls online and found that these creatures are damn cute! There are around 200 species of owls! I never knew that these birds love pats on their bodies!

Owls are always depicted as wise Grandmas. So I thought of depicting them as young lovers! Here is the mani for it.

Love Story Of Owls On Nails

Love Story Of Owls On Nails

My young female Olive is angry on her partner Ted for forgetting her birthday. So she is sitting far on the branch. And our poor hero is trying to please her with the heart shaped balloons!

Should she forgive Ted?

Or punish him for forgetting her special day?

Guys let me know what you think and how you wanna end the story. Your suggestions will complete my story and the best reply will be my next mani!
